Albert Lonsdale Roper (May 16, 1879 in Norfolk, Virginia – October 25, 1966)[1] was president of the Virginia Glee Club and the Mandolin and Guitar Club during the Glee Club 1902-1903 season.[2] While at Virginia he was also a member of Phi Gamma Delta, Lambda Pi, Phi Delta Phi, T.I.L.K.A., and O.W.L..[3]
Roper attended Cornell University for one year, then graduated from the University of Virginia with a law degree in 1902, and practiced law in Norfolk, Virginia. He was elected mayor of Norfolk in 1918 and was re-elected to three terms.[4]
