Alexis Obolensky in the UK National Portrait Gallery
Prince Alexis Obolensky, Jr. (May 8, 1914 – February 8, 1986),[1][2] of New York, New York, was a member of the Virginia Glee Club during the Glee Club 1934-1935 season. A first year "special student" during the season, he was also a member of Zeta Psi.[3]
Obolensky was a member of a Russian emigré family, the Rurik dynasty, who emigrated to the United States in the 1920s. He was married to Princess Luba Trubetskoy, also a member of pre-revolution Russian nobility. He was a socialite who traveled widely, promoting backgammon as a gambling and tournament game and serving as the president of the World Backgammon Club.[4]
