Alvah Low, 1955 Corks and Curls

Alvah Hobart Low (February 4, 1927 - May 2, 2016),[1] of Vergennes, Vermont, was a member of the Virginia Glee Club during the Glee Club 1952-1953, 1953-1954, 1954-1955, and 1955-1956 seasons. He served as a section leader during the Glee Club 1954-1955 season. He lived in 29 West Range[2] in 1952–1953 and was a member of the Virginia Gentlemen.[3] Receiving his masters in English in 1955, he was also a member of Theta Chi and Skull and Keys.[4]

Low attended the Hargrave Military Academy in Chatham, Virginia and then served in the United States Army of Occupation Italian Theatre Headquarters in Livorno from 1945 until 1946. He received his bachelors from the University of Vermont, then did a year of graduate study at the University of Michigan before enrolling at the University. After completing his masters, he did post-graduate study at the University of Pennsylvania and at Oxford University and Durham University in England, receiving his Ph.D. from Knightsbridge University. He taught English at Upsala College in East Orange, New Jersey, at Green Mountain College in Poultney, Vermont, and at Castleton State College in Castleton, Vermont.[1]
