The ceremony at the Jefferson Memorial was a commemoration of the right to religious freedom in America, and featured speeches and prayers from the Right Reverend Peter James Lee, the Bishop of the Episcopal Diocese of Virginia; former University of Virginia president Robert O'Neil; Virginia Lieutenant Governor Donald S. Beyer, Jr.; University of Virginia professor A.E. Dick Howard; Russell H. Chambliss; Rabbi Harold S. White, Jewish chaplain and Lecturer in Theology at Georgetown University, delivering a message from Elie Wiesel; Lodi Gyari, special envoy of the Dalai Lama; the Most Reverend David E. Foley, Auxiliary Bishop, Catholic Diocese of Richmond; and the Reverend Allix B. James, Chancellor of Virginia Union University.
