Douglas Moore (1893 – 1969)[1] was an American composer. Winner of the Pulitzer Prize in 1950 for his work "Giants in the Earth" and the New York Critics Circle Award in 1959 for "Ballad of Baby Doe," he composed operas for the centennial of the University of Kansas ("Carry Nation") among others. His arrangement of Poor Wayfaring Stranger, as revoiced for men's voices by Donald Loach, was a staple of Virginia Glee Club repertoire.
