Elwood Franklin Melson, Jr. (March 12, 1914 in Frankford, Delaware – December 25, 2001)[1][2] was a member of the Virginia Glee Club during the Glee Club 1938-1939 season. He was a second year law student during the season.[3]
Melson received his undergraduate degree from the University of Arizona. He served in the United States Navy in World War II aboard the battleship Indiana. He practiced law, and was then elected to the Delaware State Senate, where he was instrumental in sponsoring a law that abolished the death penalty. He became an associate judge on the New Castle Family Court, where he established a formula that determines the child support obligation. The Melson Formula is widely used in the United States.[2]
