Dr. Erwin Schneider was a German American composer[1] who taught piano and violin during the summer sessions at the University of Virginia during the years 1914-1916[2]; he directed the Virginia Glee Club in 1917-1918.[3]
Schneider graduated from the Royal School at Montabaus, Province of Hessen Nassau, Germany. Prior to 1914, he was the music director at a number of women's colleges, including Nashville College for Young Ladies, Nashville, Tenn.; Southwestern Baptist University, Jackson, Tenn.; Virginia College, Roanoke, Va.; and Lewisburg Seminary and Conservatory of Music; Lewisburg, W. Va.[4]
