The 1982-1983 season of the Virginia Glee Club was directed by Donald Loach. The officers were: Rafe Madan, President; John Bratsch, Vice President; Tucker Echols, Business Manager; and John Wadlington, Secretary. Appointed positions included Daniel Vincent, Tour Manager; Martin Kopser, Stage Manager; Richard Brown, Librarian; and David Snouffer, Bulletin Editor.[1]
The Glee Club was briefly embroiled in controversy in 1983 when University Union scheduled a Joe Jackson concert opposite the Spring Concert. University Union had booked the concert without contacting the University's Student Activities Coordinator, and the Club leadership protested; the Club was ultimately awarded a cash settlement based on the decrease in attendance.[2] The end of the season also included a contentious student activity appropriations process in which the Club was awarded only $836 of a $4,041 request.[3]
