The German Club of the University of Virginia was a student organization responsible for organizing dances for the students. Founded in the 1880s, the club merged with its rival the P.K. Society in the 20th century and the consolidated organization, now called PK German, is the University's concert booking organization.

According to the official history of the University of Virginia's first hundred years, the German Club was founded in 1888 by Eli Banana, originally to organize exclusive dances for the Eli Banana membership.[1] The Virginia University Magazine, however, records a group by that name founded in the fall of 1885.[2] The "german" in the name of the club refers to a type of figure dance in which a caller gave instructions; the german became popular toward the end of the 19th century.[3]
