Gordon Robert Welch (July 26, 1920 in Henry, Virginia – November 3, 1998)[1][2] was a member of the Virginia Glee Club during the Glee Club 1939-1940 season. He was a second year student during 1939-1940.[3]
Welch served in the United States Navy in the Atlantic Fleet as a Naval aviator during World War II, rising to the rank of captain. He served on six aircraft carriers during the war and was on the USS Guadalcanal during the capture of the U505 German submarine.[2]
