Howland Staige Davis (November 21, 1913 in Baltimore, Maryland – December 3, 2009)[1] was a member of the Virginia Glee Club during the Glee Club 1935-1936 season. He was a third year during the season. While at the University of Virginia he was a member of Alpha Tau Omega.[2]
Howland was the great-grandson of University of Virginia professor John Staige Davis.[1] He served in World War II as a Naval aviator, rising to the rank of commander and earning the Distinguished Flying Cross. He is buried in Arlington National Cemetery.[3] He later was a NASA test pilot during the Mercury, Gemini and Apollo missions, as well as a Bendix Field Engineering test pilot.[4]
