John D. Potts (born January 16, 1855 in Petersburg, Virginia)[2] was business manager of the Virginia Glee Club during the Glee Club 1895-1896 season. He was not a student of the University of Virginia at that time, so his connection to the Glee Club is obscure.
Potts was employed as a passenger agent on the Chesapeake and Ohio Railway, and was credited by Bernard W. Moore with helping the Club arrange their 1894 tour.[3] It is possible that the Glee Club gave him the title of Manager due to his ongoing support for their touring activities.
