John R. Liepold is a musician and conductor currently based in New York City. He directed the Virginia Glee Club from 1991 through 1996. During his time as director, the group went on the Tour of the South (1992) and the Tour of the Northeast (1994), performed at national events for Thomas Jefferson's 250th birthday, and commissioned a number of works, including James Erb's arrangement of "Shenandoah" and Neely Bruce's Young T.J.
Liepold graduated from Wesleyan University, where he was a student of Neely Bruce.[1]
