John Thomas Alsop, Jr. (1874 in Halifax County, North Carolina – May 11, 1958)[1] was a member of the Virginia Glee Club during the Glee Club 1894-1895 season. A resident of Macon, Georgia and a second year law student at the University of Virginia during this season, he was a member of Kappa Alpha, O.N.E., and the president of the Tennis Association..[2][3]
After serving in Teddy Roosevelt's Rough Riders,[1] Alsop became mayor of Jacksonville, Florida, a position which he held from 1923 to 1937 and again from 1941 through 1945. He also ran unsuccessfully for the US House of Representatives in 1932.[4]
