Louis Burkot was a member of the Virginia Glee Club during the Glee Club 1971-1972, 1972-1973, 1973-1974, and 1974-1975 seasons, performing as vocal soloist in the Glee Club's appearance in the Harvard Festival of Men's Voices (1977) as part of the Glee Club 1976-1977 season. He was also a member of the Virginia Gentlemen.
After graduating from the University, Burkot received his Masters in Music from Yale University. He was the director of the Dartmouth Glee Club from 1981 to 2018, and is a senior lecturer in the Dartmouth College Department of Music. He is also artistic director of Opera North, a position he has held since 1987.
