
Lyell Buffington Clay, 1948 Corks and Curls
Lyell Buffington Clay (1924 in Baltimore, Maryland – November 15, 2007)[1], of Charleston, West Virginia, was a member of the Virginia Glee Club during the Glee Club 1945-1946 season. Graduating in 1948 with a law degree, he was also a member of the soccer and track teams.[2]
Prior to enrolling in the University, Clay completed his undergraduate degree at Williams College and served in the United States Marine Corps during World War II. He later completed an MA from Marshall College and an MBA from West Virginia University.
Clay founded Clay Communications, which operated newspapers and television stations in West Virginia and North Carolina, as well as two Charlottesville radio stations.[1]
