Bateman, 1979 Corks and Curls

Mark Bateman, of Manassas, Virginia, was a member of the Virginia Glee Club during the Glee Club 1975-1976 season, singing baritone and countertenor, and the 1976-1977 season singing Tenor II and countertenor. Graduating with a Bachelor's degree in Physics in 1979, he was also a member of the Virginia Gentlemen.[1] He was also a member of Delta Tau Delta fraternity and WUVA.[2]

After working in the defense industry in Northern Virginia for six years, Mark returned to Charlottesville to complete his Master's degree in System Engineering.  He rejoined the Glee Club (under conductor Donald Loach again!) and the Virginia Gentlemen for the 1985-1986 season as Tenor II and countertenor.

Bateman writes, "I currently reside in Ledyard, Connecticut, where I retired in July 2024 from building submarines for the US Navy.  Hope to enjoy future reunions in Charlottesville with the Glee Club and Virginia Gents!"
