Martin Votaw (October 2, 1925 – August 6, 2015),[1] of McLean, Virginia and Santa Barbara, California, was a member of the Virginia Glee Club during the Glee Club 1946-1947 season. Graduating in 1947, he was also a member of AIEE and the track team.[2]
Mr Votaw was a communications satellite scientist who began his career at the United States Naval Research Lab, where he worked on the Vanguard, Galactic Radiation and Background (GRAB) and LOFTI 1 satellites. He joined Comsat in 1963, where he helped design the first communications satellite and oversaw the production of Comsat satellites. He later worked for Satellite Business Systems and International Maritime Satellites.[3]
