Mortimer Park Crane (February 4, 1894 in Germantown, Pennsylvania – May 15, 1918)[1][2] was a member of the Virginia Glee Club during the Glee Club 1915-1916 season. A first year during the season, he was also a member of Delta Phi and the indoor track team.[3]
Crane had entered Yale University in the fall of 1912, but dropped out after two years, spent a year at Lafayette College in Easton, Pennsylvania, then attended the University of Virginia. Crane enlisted in the Reserve Officers Training Corps in 1917 after enlisting in the Canadian army for four months as a gunner in the Field Artillery.[4] He subsequently made his way into the British Royal Air Force, and died in 1918 in a training accident in which he turned the wrong way while flying in formation and clipped the wing of another plane.[2][5]
