Caven, 1960 Corks and Curls

Robert E. Caven (June 6, 1938 in Atlantic City, New Jersey – January 15, 2012)[1][2] was a member of the Virginia Glee Club during the Glee Club 1956-1957, 1957-1958, and 1958-1959 seasons. Graduating in 1960, he was also a member of Delta Phi Alpha, Phi Alpha Sigma, the Lawn Chowder and Marching Society, the Raven Society, the Rifle and Pistol Club, ROTC, the Y.M.C.A., and Phi Beta Kappa, and was president of the Wesley Foundation.[3] He was a resident of 21 West Lawn[4] in 1958-1959.

He received his MD from the University of Pittsburgh. He served in the United States Air Force and served as a medical officer at Hickham & Wheeler Air Force Base in Hawaii, chief of primary care at Alconbury AFB in England and Langley AFB in Hampton, Virginia, and served the air national guard in a variety of medical roles at Bangor Air National Guard Base in Maine. He received the Air Force Meritorious Service Medal with One Oak Leaf Cluster, Air Force Outstanding Unit Award with One Oak Leaf Cluster and the Air Force Overseas long tour ribbon.[1]
