The 1994 Virginia Glee Club Tour of the Northeast, the highlight of the 1993-1994 season, saw the Glee Club performing in Hartford, New York City, Boston, Stamford, Philadelphia (Chestnut Hill), and Washington, DC. The tour began with a detour to Knoxville, Tennessee to appear at the American Choral Directors Assocation Southern Division Convention. The director was John Liepold.

Itinerary

  • ACDA Southern Division Convention (Knoxville, TN)
  • South Hadley, MA (with the Mount Holyoke Glee Club)
  • West Hartford, CT
  • Boston, MA, Old South Church
  • Stamford, CT
  • Philadelphia, PA
  • New York, NY (Church of St. Mary the Virgin)
  • Washington, DC (St. Matthew's Cathedral)
  • Charlottesville, VA (Spring Concert (1994) with the Mount Holyoke Glee Club)

Program

The printed programs listed Steve Reich's "Clapping Music," but the Club did not perform that work on the tour.

Mount Holyoke performance

The performance at Mount Holyoke College was a separate event with a separate program; the Virginia Glee Club's repertoire was drawn from the tour repertoire, but a joint piece (the Duruflé Requiem) was also performed with the Mount Holyoke Glee Club.

Stamford performance

The performance at St. John the Evangelist Roman Catholic Church in Stamford, CT was part of the church's regular concert series.
